Our Los Angeles Times Prize Winners

The Los Angeles Times awarded their 2010 annual prizes in a ceremony on April 23rd. In the current interest category, Dave Eggers won for Zeitoun (Vintage). The judges called the book "an extraordinary story of early 21st Century America, combining rigorous reporting with the kind of literary grace and attention to everyday detail that one finds in the best fiction." Eggers also won the 2009 Innovator's Award Winner, which recognizes people and institutions that are doing cutting edge work to bring books, publishing and storytelling into the future.

Philipp Meyer's American Rust (Spiegel & Grau) won the Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction, and David Mazzucchelli's Asterios Polyp (Pantheon) won in the new Graphic Novel category.
