Jean Edward Smith, the John Marshall Professor of Political Science at Marshall University and Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Toronto, received the annual Francis Parkman Prize for his FDR, published by Random House in 2007. The Society of American Historians awarded the 51st Francis Parkman Prize at its annual dinner on Monday, May 5, in New York City. The Francis Parkman Prize is awarded annually for the best nonfiction book on an American theme published the previous year.
