Three Random House Titles Receive
NBCC Awards


Random House received three awards from the National Book Critics Circle on March 3rd. The March by E.L. Doctorow received the award for fiction, American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin received the award for biography, and Refusing Heaven by Jack Gilbert received the award for poetry.

The March also recently received the PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction.

John McGahern, one of Ireland's great modern novelists, passed away from cancer on March 30 at the age of 71.
John D. Barrow has been awarded the 2006 Templeton Prize, which honors the advancement of knowledge in spiritual matters.
Walter Alvarez, the author of T. Rex and the Crater of Doom, has received the Nevada Award for outstanding achievement in science and engineering from the Desert Research Institute.
