Upstate New York
by Mathias Dyssegaard Kallick
1.
Mathias and Daniel were on vacation in upstate New York. Across the street from the hotel where they were staying, there were three horses. Mathias and Daniel liked to feed the horses grass, and the horses got to be Mathias and Daniel's friends. Mathias and Daniel named the horses Blackie and Brownie and Snowface
2.
One day, when Mathias and Daniel were on a hike with their mother and rather, they found some apples on the ground. The apples had fallen from an apple tree. Mathias and Daniel got a bag and collected them.
3.
When they got back to the hotel, Mathias and Daniel couldn't wait to feed the apples to Blackie and Brownie and Snowface. The horses came trotting over to get the apples right away. They loved them!
4.
Blackie and Brownie can only tell about the farm, but Snowface can tell about the park. Snowface used to take people around in carriages in Central Park.
5.
Daniel and Mathias invite Snowface to come visit them in New York. Snowface flies there in an airplane. A robot made a special suitcase for Snowface to carry on the airplane.
6.
Daniel and Mathias go to the park and go sledding with the horse.
7.
They meet Snowface's friend Milos.
8.
Milos turns out to be really good at snowboarding!
9.
They go and have hot chocolate and warm up.
10.
They all go home - Daniel and Mathias go to East Ninth Street, Milos goes to his apartment in Queens, and Snowface goes to the airport and waits for a plane to take him home.
"So vividly told, I found myself wishing I had been on that trip to upstate New York!"
