One "Family Bonding
Trip" Contest

The Official Rules:

HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Enter by printing your name, date of birth, your parent’s/guardian’s name, full address, and phone number on either an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper or an online print-out entry form here and tell us (in 150 words or less) about your own experiences with the Pain or the Great One in your life (a brother, a sister, a cousin or a friend – whatever relationship you choose). Mail to The Pain and the Great One Family Bonding Trip Contest, Random House Children’s Books, Marketing Department, 1745 Broadway, MD: 10-2, New York, NY 10019. Entries must be mailed separately and received by Random House between August 28, 2007 and November 28, 2007 (“Entry Deadline”). LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER FAMILY. Partially completed or illegible entries will not be accepted. Sponsors will not be responsible for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, stolen, postage due, incomplete or misdirected entries. All entries become the property of Random House and will not be returned, so please keep a copy for your records.

ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, who are between the ages of 4 and 14 on August 28, 2007. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc and its parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies; their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this Contest.

PRIZES
There will be one (1) Grand Prize Winner selected. One Grand Prize Winner will win roundtrip coach airfare for: him/herself, one (1) parent or legal guardian, and two (2) others, roundtrip coach airfare for four (4) departing from the major U.S. or Canadian gateway airport nearest to winner's home, a hotel stay for 2 nights (one room; quadruple occupancy), ground transportation to and from the airport while in New York, and tickets for 4 to “The Lion King” on a date to be determined (Approximate retail value $4000.00 US); actual retail value may vary depending on the winner’s city of departure and time of year. No other expenses included. Travel and lodging are subject to availability and certain travel restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Winner and travel companions must travel on the same itinerary. Travel and use of accommodation are at risk of Winner and Winner's parent/legal guardian. Random House Inc. and Disney Adventures do not assume any liability. All federal, state, and local taxes, if any, are the Winner's (or winner’s parent or legal guardian’s) full and sole responsibility. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be assigned. No prize or cash substitutes allowed, except at the discretion of the sponsor as set forth above.

WINNERS
Potential Winners will be chosen on or around January 10, 2008, from all eligible entries received by the Random House Marketing Department within the Entry Deadline. Entries will be judged by the Random House Marketing Department staff, whose decisions are final, and the prize will be awarded on the basis of originality, style, and creativity. The prize will be awarded in the name of the winner's parent or legal guardian. Winner or Winner’s parent or legal guardian will be notified by mail on or about January 15, 2008 and Winner, Winner’s parent/legal guardian, travel companions and travel companions’ parents or legal guardians will be required to sign and return affidavits of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. Any noncompliance with the 14-day time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner by sponsor. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.

RESERVATIONS
By participating, participants and winner (and winner’s parent/legal guardian) agree that Random House, Inc., and its parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion, fulfillment agencies, and suppliers will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by participants and winners (and participants’ and winner’s parent/legal guardian) for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or participation in this contest. By entering the Contest the Winner and the Winner’s parent or legal guardian consents to the use of the Winner’s name, likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House, Inc. with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). All other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the name of the winner, available after March 15, 2008, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Random House, The Pain and the Great One Family Bonding Trip Contest Winner, 1745 Broadway. MD: 10-2, New York, NY 10019. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return postage.
